BRINGING CUDDLES TO EDINBURGH!

Welcome to Therapy Pets!

At Therapy Pets, our passionate team is dedicated to bringing joy and therapeutic experiences to various care settings. Meet our delightful companions: trained guinea pigs George, Ringo, Frank, and Elvis, alongside our certified Superstar therapy dog, Doctor Watson!

We specialise in enhancing cognitive, sensory, and fine motor skills while promoting emotional connection. Our programs are particularly beneficial for individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's, brain injuries, strokes, autism, and other disabilities.

Moreover, our services extend to corporate environments and universities, where we help reduce stress, improve morale, and enhance overall well-being among employees and students. Discover the numerous benefits of animal-assisted therapy and learn how we can support your organisation by visiting our Corporates or Universities page.

MEET DOCTOR WATSON

Introducing Doctor Watson, our charming 9-year-old Samoyed and Rough Collie mix! With his gentle spirit and affectionate nature, Doc is the ultimate cuddle buddy. He adores being petted and happily accepts treats with utmost politeness. Be sure to check out his Puppy Album to see the amazing transformation as he’s grown!

While many therapy dogs are small, Doc is a BIG BOY, standing proudly at waist height. This means wheelchair users can also enjoy his warm snuggles without missing out!

Doc is a wonderful companion who thrives on meeting new friends. His joy shines through every time he interacts with people, and he loves being showered with love and attention.

In short, Doc is an absolute Superstar! Just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside, he embraces everyone with an open heart and no judgment. If only we could all embrace the world with a bit more of Doc’s spirit!

HOW WE WORK

At Therapy Pets, we believe in providing a rewarding Therapy Pet experience tailored to your needs. Before we finalize any bookings, we take the time to explain our services in detail so that your expectations are met. This initial conversation—whether through a phone call or virtual meeting—also allows us to confirm availability and discuss any applicable costs, including travel fees.

For first-time visits, we have a few additional steps outlined in our Onboarding Process. This includes conducting a Risk Assessment, completing Consent Forms, and establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). To ensure a safe and healthy therapy session, we will provide you with copies of our current DBS checks and our policies regarding the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.

Our commitment to each other is essential, and having the necessary legal documentation in place helps us achieve a safe and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Nostalgic Tunes to Enrich Your Experience

We enhance our therapy sessions by bringing along a retro record player that spins beloved classics from artists like The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. Originally introduced to help pass the time while waiting for turns, the music has become a wonderful source of memory stimulation and ignites engaging conversations. Many of our clients have even been inspired to dance along, making each session not just therapeutic but truly memorable!
